Birthday Beauty by Fran

I made this Birthday card for my surrogate daughter.  She has a special place in my heart.  The digital image is by Redonkulous Designs called Birthday Beauty.  She was colored using Promarkers.  The papers are by Echo Park called A Walk in The Park.  And the card base is Neenah 80# Card Stock (McMahon Five Designs).  Plus there is a hint of shimmer using Clear glitter by Wink of Stella.

DETAILS:  All card stock used is Neenah Solar White 80# and 110#.  Image was fussy cut using my Silhouette Portrait.  The clouds were created in Paint Shop Pro and then exported to my Silhouette to cut them out.  The tiny hearts were made using a die and then I colored them with a Wink of Stella Brush in Hot Pink.  All the clouds got a coat of clear glitter using a Wink of Stella Brush.  The colored background and sentiment was done using Paint Shop Pro and printed out.  The image and clouds were attached to the card with 3-D Foam Squares for dimension.  Then I added just a little more glitter to the image using Stickles in the color yellow.  If you click on the photo you will get a larger view to see the card in more detail.  I added a little more dimension to Honey and Boo’s noses using a Glaze Gel Pen in black and Pink.

Card Recipe:  You probably know me by now that my favorite go to paper is Neenah.  And that is the card stock I used for the card, card base, printed card stock and sentiment.  The printed card stock came from the Gingerbread Digi Paper Pack.  For the first time I experimented with Distress Crackle Paint (clear rock candy) on the red and white gingham background paper.  Then I used Distress Ink (frayed burlap) to fill in the cracks.  I also used frayed burlap on the diagonal stripe scallop borders, the edge of the sentiment label and on the ribbon.  The button is from my stash and I covered it with Fran-tage using Aged Scarlet and Red Tinsel Embossing powders.  Sprinkled some red, green, and cream sequins by Kelly Purkey.  And just a small amount of glitter on the red line and candy canes on the label using the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush.

I would love it if you stopped by the M5D Design Team Blog and check out all the other amazing projects.  Thank you!

Check out these gorgeous digital images.  The digital set is called Elegant Ornaments.  And you can purchase it at the McMahon Five Designs Online Store.

My Project

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Details:  Neenah cardstock as the base of my card and colored it using three shades of Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, and Broken China).  Dark blue card stock from my stash and cut using Spellbinders Label – LF-161 (Grand Nestabilities).  I chose the blue ornament for my card.  Although you cannot tell I cut the ornament out using my Silhouette and adhered to the card base. I used a Clear Glitter Wink of Stella brush on the entire ornament.  I also added stickles (Ice Blue) to the ornament.  In addition to the stickles on the ornament I placed stickle dots (Mercury Glass) on the blue card stock. The sentiment was also cut using my Silhouette and framed it with Ice Blue Stickles.  The white dots on the base of the card represents snow made from Snow-Tex Glistening Snow.  I used a template called Falling Snow to place the snow dots on the card.  I wish you could see the card in person because all the glitter really looks so much better than my photo. Its so hard to capture glitter with my digital camera.  But if you click on the photo you will get a larger image and you may be able to see everything better.

If you get a chance I would love if you stopped by the M5D Blog to see more beautiful creations made by the Design team.

Christmas Angel

One of today’s release for McMahon Five Designs is a Christmas Angel.  It just took me a matter of a few seconds to decide how I wanted to use this beautiful Angel.  Since the main focus is the Angel what better way to show her off then to make an Angel card.  And to make things easy for me I used the colored image from this digital package from Imagine That! Digis by Kris.

Details:  The card base is made from Neenah card stock called Classic Solar White 80#.  I used the Print and Cut feature on my Silhouette to cut out the Angel (front of card) and the back of the card.  I used dazzling diamonds glitter on her wings.  The red trim, ornaments, hair, lips and fingernails were coated with a clear glitter using a Wink of Stella Brush.  The card measures 5”tall and 5” at its widest point.

What’s the scoop?

Today is “Flashback Friday” release for McMahon Five Designs.  I chose to go back a little ways and make a card using a cute image by Draw Me A Daydream.  Here is a preview of what you get in this cute digital package.

JPG and PNG Files

DMAD - Boyscream Store Image

And you probably guessed it!  I used the image that has been already colored.  Gosh you are probably tired of hearing me say this over and over of how much time it saves you to have an image already colored.

My Project

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Card Details: Card created using Neenah Environment Desert Storm card stock 80#.  I experimented with this card and used a chevron stencil created with my Silhouette Portrait.  Using Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) by Tim Holtz and inked the background paper using the stencil.  (The finished card is approximately 5-1/2” square).

I always liked dash lines on a card but I make a mess trying to make uniform lines.  So experimenting again I purchased various stitched lines from the Silhouette Store.  Then I created my own squares with the stitched lines.  And using the silhouette sketch pens the silhouette drew my stitched squares in the prescribed sizes I wanted.  Cool huh?   I went over the lines with a gelly roll pen by Sukura to give it the hand drawn look.

I added a few buttons tied with brown floss.  Banner was hand made using one of the sentiments that comes in the digital package.  Glitz things up with the Wink Stella Glitter brush.  The glitter is so subtle and great for masculine cards if you want to add some bling.  The ice cream scoops have 3 layers of Inkssentials glossy accents on them.  And just a little Aged Ochre embossing powder on each side of the ice scoops to give it the appearance that the top scoop is getting ready to fall off the cone.

Sidebar: I used Grafix Craft Plastic sheets weight .007.

Here is a video to see it in action (almost like a silent movie), lol.

Cutting Grafix .007 Plastic Sheets

I want to mention that I had to cut my template 4 times before it would cut all the way through.  I am sure its because my blade is dull.  I did read cutting on the plastic sheets may dull your blade so its good to have a blade just for stencil cutting.

I hope that I gave you some new ideas for your card making.  Let me know what you think?  And don’t forget to stop over the M5D Blog to see more great projects.

Have a great day!

Today I have a card created for McMahon Five Designs using one of my favorite color combinations—Blue and yellow.  I used digital papers created by Bella’s Beauties.

Details:  Card base and front are made using Neenah Solar White Card Stock 80#.  The printed papers are from Bella’s Beauties called Pretty Paisleys.   The card Front is a Floral Frame cut using the Silhouette Portrait.  I used the Fill Pattern feature to fill the frame mat and floral accent with the Paisley prints. And then I used the Print and Cut feature to cut out the printed frame to create a shaped card.  The sentiment and the mat was also cut using the Print and Cut feature.  The bling on the flowers and mat are vinyl sparkler stickers in turquoise by Stampendous.

You Are One Of A Kind

It’s Flashback Friday!

My project for this week’s release for McMahon Five Designs was created for my Grandson who will be 13 in September.   When I watch my grandson play his games on his iPod there are always funny little characters.  So today I chose the perfect digital image for him.  Its called Lil’ Monster Digital Stamp.  Having these images in my stash make it so easy to create that special Birthday Card.

Details: I chose the colored image because I love the colors and the convenience.  I used Paint Shop Pro (PSP) and the Silhouette Portrait to make my card.  And for some added touches I used a paper cutter and and one inch circle punch to add the colored strips and circles.

I created the front and inside of the card using PSP.  Then I took the digital image and opened it in the Silhouette.  There is an option called Print and Cut.  So using that option I printed the image using my printer.  And then I loaded the printed image into the Silhouette. I got a perfectly cut out image to lay on top of the  image on the card front for a  more dimensional look.  I also cut out a smaller version for the inside of the card.  I added some glitter to image to give it a little pizazz.

There are so many wonderful digital choices in the McMahon Five Designs Store.  Digital images hardly take up any room in your craft space.  You save them to your computer and use them when you need them.  I still like using stamps but working with digital images gives me the option to size them the way I want.  And having images already colored for you makes it so easy to get your project done quicker.  And if you like to color there are outline images included.    Gosh most of the work is done for you.

Please stop by the McMahon Five Designs Blog to see what the other Design Team members created.  I know it will truly inspire you.  Thank you for visiting my blog.

I Like You To Meet Farmer John & His Family

Today McMahon Five Designs has some great digital images and papers in this week’s release.  I chose to make a Thank You card (a little different than most Thank You cards) but different can be fun too.  Before I share my project I like to introduce the digital images and papers I chose to create my project.  If you haven’t used digital images before today would be a great day to start your collection.  They make creating cards a breeze because most of the digital images come already colored for you.  And some are in outline form for you to color in your favorite colors.

Farmer Lily Color & Outline

Farm Friends Color & Outline

My Project

(You will notice that I used something from all three digital designs.)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Details:  I kept it simple this time.  I used the farm scene paper from the digital paper collection and added both John and Lilly and some of the farm animals.  I added the sun which is from another paper collection called Sunshine and Rain.  And used a font from my font collection for the Thank You sentiment.  I wish I could tell you why I chose to make this  card a Thank you card but I just thought it would be something a little different to send to someone.  Behind the farm scene is another paper from the collection called Chicken Wire.  On the inside I wanted to add something bright so I used the paper called Chevron (yellow).  Then I took the Barn from the Farm Friends collection and traced the shape using  my Silhouette Portrait and then offset the shape using red paper.

The digital image scene, chicken wire print and the chevron yellow print was all printed on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Card Stock (80#).  And its on sale too!

School Boy Card

Can you believe that school will be starting soon.  Where did the summer go?

I have a cute card to share with you today for McMahon Five Designs.  The digital images and pattern papers are by Kris Breach.  Lots of us know how challenging it is to make masculine cards.  And you would think having four grandsons I would find it very easy.  But sometimes it’s a challenge for me too.

Kris’ digital images sure makes it easy for me.  She gives you both outline and colored images to use.  And her papers are awesome!  Check them out by clicking on the image titles below.

Details:  I used the outline digital image from the School Boy Digital Image Set.  And colored it using Paint Shop Pro (except for the hair I used Prisma Colored Pencils).  The shirt was made using the plaid pattern paper from School Days Digital Papers. I also incorporated the pattern paper as one of the layers on the front of the card.  The solid color papers are from my Stash.  The card base and printed image were created using  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Card stock.  The filigree apple and “back to SCHOOL” sentiment is from the Silhouette Store.  The glitter dots and arrows were created using Stickles Glitter Glue (True Blue).  The highlights on the apples were created using Gelly Roll White ink pen by Sakura and then highlighted with Stickles Glitter Glue (Diamond).    If you have any questions concerning my card feel free to contact me.

Happy Anniversary Card by Fran

Today for McMahon Five Designs I created a cute anniversary card using the cutest image from Imagine That! Digis by Kris Breach.   The set is called Sweet Tea.

Anniversary Card Front View

I used two different card stock papers to make the card.  Neenah Classic Baronial Ivory and Neenah Environment Desert Storm.  The card is from my stash and was purchased from the Silhouette Store and cut on my Silhouette Portrait.  I distressed the edges of the card using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Festive Berries.  On the the top layer of the flower border edge I used Martha Stewart glitter Tourmaline.  The pretty pink pearls are by Kaisercraft.  The beige lace on the edge of the card is by Maya Road Vintage Lace Tape in Buttermilk.

I created an envelope for my card using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board. My card measured approximately 4-1/8th square.  I used the measurement for a 4 x 4-1/2” card size. My card with all its embellishments fit perfectly inside the envelope.  See below.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I decorated the front of the envelope using a stamp set called Envelope Sentiments.  It really gives a nice personal touch to the envelope don’t you think?

And this image shows you how nicely my card fits in the envelope using the measurements I stated above.  I couldn’t be happier with how perfect it fits in the envelope.
