Made Two Love

Hubby and I own 6 cats and when I saw this digital image from McMahon Five Designs I just knew it would be perfect to give to hubby for Valentine’s Day.

I took the easy road this time when it came to coloring the image.  What I did was select two Valentine Prints in a nice soft blue and filled the images with a different print.  The heart in the center was colorized using Paint Shop Pro and added a darker shade on the edge of the heart for depth.  The little ribbons on each kitty have a little rhinestone bling.  The male kitty has a blue rhinestone and the female kitty has a pretty red rhinestone.  The images were printed on standard card stock.  The Blue mat behind the images is card stock from Papertrey Ink.  And the card base is made from Neenah Card stock.

To make the card I used my printer, Spellbinders Calibur, Spellbinders Grand Nestibilities Labels One, and the Silhouette Portrait for the sentiment inside the card (Hubby won’t need his reading glasses to read the sentiment :)  I used a lot of equipment to make this card but it certainly made it easier to pull it all together.

Feel Better Soon!

Its been a very long time since I made a Get Well Card.  And in my stash of files I found a card that would be great to make for any one.  A while ago I purchased a set of cards for all occasions.  And today I thought I make a Get Well Card.  I haven’t made one for quite a while.  And the neat thing about it was all components except for the base of the card was made using my Cricut Expression.  I wish I would have timed myself when I started making the card because it took so little time to cut it out and put it all together.  And all the components were made using a 6x6 Paper Pad by Echo Park called This & That CharmingIt’s a standard A2 size card (5-1/2” by 4-1/4”).  The word B-E-T-T-E-R was cut three times and glued each of the 3 letters to give the word some dimension.  I love the colors in the paper and I thought it would be a nice card for a man.  I plan to give this card to my Dad along with his favorite candy – Orange Slices.

It did not take a lot of supplies to make this card because having the right paper really helped pull it all together.  You can get the paper here from Cutters Creek.  Plus I added just a hint of bling using Wild Honey Distress Stickles which match the colors in the paper so well.  Click on the links and they will take you to the Cutters Creek Store and the products I used to make this card.

So glad you stopped by,

Fruit of the Spirit

Many of us know how good fruit is for you.  And we know what kinds of fruit are good for your body.  But did you know that there are fruits that are good for your spirit.  Well for my project for McMahon Five Designs I chose to Fruit of the Spirit digital images.  And I selected 6 of my favorite fruits to make note cards.  I also made a card folder to hold the note cards and envelopes.  The card folder was inspired by watching a You Tube video by Roxyfur.

My Project below using 6 of the Spirit of Fruits and the folder created to hold them.

All the fruit was colored using Paint Shop Pro using the effect called Retro Lab. I only had to make a few Prisma Colored pencil touches on the bananas and the white blossom on the strawberries.  Using the Retro Lab technique was very new for me but I really had fun playing with it to get the look I wanted.  If I had to pick a favorite out of all six I would pick the apple.  I love how it turned out.  If you click on each photo you will be able to see them larger and closer.  I used Neenah Card Stock for my note cards.  The bottom edges were punched with one of my scallop punches and I added Liquid Pearls in Silver Platinum for an added effect.

The inside pockets of the folder will hold more than six note cards easily.

I’m not sure if you can see them but there are tiny dots of Silver Platinum liquid pearls accenting some of the flowers.

(this photo looks different because I did not use the flash on my camera)

The pearls on the Front of the folder are by Kaisercraft in Champagne.  The flowers are Prima Flowers and the ribbon is a burnished gold color.  And the paper is by Colorbok called Neutrals and all from my stash.  Why don’t you stop over to the M5D Design Team Blog and see what the other DT members created too.
