Final Christmas Cards for 2017

Sharing the last four Christmas Cards of 2017 I made for my Sister-in-law and Nieces.  They really loved them a lot!

All four have the same Christmas Tree image but each tree was die cut from different papers.  And the backgrounds are all different.

Merry Christmas!

Well all the Christmas cards are made and mailed!  My list got a little bigger this year and I was so glad I started making the cards in November.  I made several different designs but only took photos of the ones I sent to my family.  Today I am sharing two cards with you.  More will come soon.

Snowflake Shaker Card

Snowflake Wreath

I guess by now you can see that snowflakes seem to be the theme I went with this year.  Each card I am sharing has snowflakes on them in some form or other.  My favorite themes for Christmas time are Snowflakes, Snowmen, and Christmas trees.

If you have any questions about these cards please feel free to send me an email.

Season’s Greetings!

Happy Birthday Card

I made this card for my friend Judy who celebrated her birthday on October 29th.

I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire when she made a shaker card using tulle.  What I did was make the entire card front the shaker.

I had a hard time trying to decide if I should put a sentiment on the card front but nothing looked right.  The Happy Birthday and verse sentiments are in the inside (not shown).

Ghostly Greetings

I finally got my youngest Grandsons’ Halloween cards completed and they are in the mail!  The cards were such a challenge plus very tedious for me.  Now that its all behind me maybe the next time I make a pop-up box card it will be a little easier (wink).

I was unable to get a good photo of all the sides on each box but they were decorated with more little ghosts and spider webs.

All images were water colored using Zig Clean Brushes and were cut out using my Scan ‘N Cut.

Touchdown!

My youngest grandson is playing football for the first time this year.  He is doing great (he got 3 touchdowns so far).  I made this card to show him how proud I am on how well he is doing.

The goal post and flag pole was colored using Paint Shop Pro and cut out using my Scan ‘N Cut.  The team name ‘Avengers’ was created using two alphabet punches by Martha Stewart.

Two stamps were used for the front and inside sentiments: You Make Me Proud (Technique Junkies) and Congrats-Way To Go using an older stamp which isn’t marked who made it.  Sky created using a stencil.  Grass area was created using Distress Oxide Inks.  Striped papers are digital.  And everything else is from my stash.

Grateful Easel Card

I made this card about 3 weeks ago for the employees at the front desk of my Doctor’s Office.  I thought I would give an easel card a try because I received a beautiful one for Easter and it perked up my mojo.

What I did a little different was I made a shaker window to hold sequins as the stopper to hold the front of the card.

I am sorry for the poor photography but if you click on the photo you may be able to view it better.

I cannot provide a recipe because I forgot to write down all the tools I used to make the card.  However, if you have any questions about the card feel free to ask me.

Inside Views

(Click on Images to Get a Closer View)

I used a new stamp by Simon Says Stamp called Some Bunny.  The little Chick on the green framed card came from last year’s stamp set called Chirpy Chirp Chirp by lawn fawn.

All images and backgrounds were water colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush. I used Canson 140lb cold press watercolor paper.

The cards are one layered cards except for the chick on the green framed card. I used my SNC to cut out the chick and glued on top of the egg.

All the embellishments and cardstock came from my stash.  The colored card stock is by Core’dinations.

Sequins used for added flair.  Sparkle from Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle brush. White dots and lines were made using a Signo Uni-ball pen.

The corners of the card were cut using WRMK Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper (Deco).

My inspiration for these cards came from Prairie Paper & Ink (AmyR): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPcpL1iZb5o&t=415s

“Elementary, My Dear Watson”

You probably guessed by the quote above that the theme for  my husband’s 70th Birthday card is Sherlock Holmes.

Chuck has always been of big fan of Sherlock Holmes and I thought that he would really enjoy his birthday card.

Tidbit: A documentary about the real life inspirations for Sherlock Holmes. A leading professor of medicine, Dr. Joseph Bell is a pioneer in a new field, forensic science. Joseph Bell is the real life model for the greatest fictional detective in history. He inspired his student, Arthur Conan Doyle to create a legend.

I was inspired by a card I saw a very long time ago and I just had to have the Sherlock Holmes Stamp Set used on that card.  The stamp was purchased from Kraftin’ Kimmie about 4 year’s ago (I think) with my husband in mind.  And I just got around to using it, lol.  Here is a picture of the original card that I cased.

Sherlock Holmes Sample

Kraftin’ Kimme

Mine

I used the Zig Clean Color Brushes to water color the image.

Inside

CD of some of Chuck’s favorite songs.  And the label of Sherlock Holmes playing the violin was created using my printer and a printable CD.

Note: The Sherlock Holmes stamp is no longer available from Kraftin’ Kimme.

Two For One Post!

It’s been quite a long time since I posted to my Blog.  I came down with a bad stomach bug in November.  And when I felt better I began making my Christmas cards.  My Christmas list was almost three times longer than Christmas 2015.  I made 35 cards (and envelopes) to send out and let me tell you after I mailed them I was relieved and burnt out, lol.

After all cards were ready for mailing it hit me that I forgot to take photos of the different style cards I created except for one.  The photo is below.

The photo does not do it justice because the deer was made from a bright gold foil card stock and the camera wouldn’t give me a good shot of it.  I am blaming the camera not me, lol.

Reindeer Christmas Card

(Mine)

I cased this card from Nichol Spohr, LLC

Below is a photo of my Grandson’s Birthday card.  He turned 10 in January.  Like I mentioned above I was so burnt out from making Christmas cards that my creative mojo was gone!  But I knew I wanted to make a card for him so I worked hard to get my creative juices running again.  Once I started the card I began to have fun making it.  Most of the card is water colored.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  If you have any questions about the cards please feel free to send me an e-mail with your questions.
