Paper Elements Meets Pretty Patterns

I call myself a paper crafter but it seems that I’ve been using more elements that aren’t paper.  So with this card I wanted to change my style.  Obviously the Ric Rac and bling are not paper but everything else I used is paper.  The background papers are by MTME (My Time Made Easy). The digital paper kit can be found here and its called Romance.

Look even the little bows are made from paper.  I love how cute they turned out.  I use a Photo Imaging Software called Paint Shop Pro by Corel.  I copied the paper prints I wanted to use and printed them out using the size I needed.  The word happy are chip board letters I already had in my supplies.  Birthday was cut using the Cricut die cutter.  Both words were colored using a Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass). Then distressed the words more by edging them with Vintage Photo.  A very simple card but sometimes simple says a lot.

This week’s Challenge Sketch below made making my card very easy.  Give it a try!  I really would love seeing my blogger friends over at MTME for this week’s challenge.  You never know you could be the next winner!

The sketch measures 6 1/2″ wide by 3 1/4″ tall. Feel free to adjust as you desire. Want some more inspiration? Check out what the Design Team’s been up to…

Today is my debut over at Paper Crafting World.  The theme is Spring/Flowers.  You can join us in our first Digital Stamp Challenge at PCW.

So let’s see what adorable projects you can make with this theme in mind. We want you to join us in the fun. You can download and use our FREE digital stamp!  All you have to do is request the one you would like to use for this challenge only.

You are also welcome to use any digital stamps from PCW that you may have purchased or the many freebies we have given away in the past. Check out the wonderful Digi Stamp Creations by the Digi Team over at PCW.  You will truly be inspired!

PCW SkunkCard_Get Well_FranBaker

Details:  The digi stamp was colored using Prisma Colored pencils.  The flowers were paper pieced using background papers from a Scrap Kit.  The Skunk’s  (isn’t he adorable?) white portion was crated using Stickles-Star Dust by Ranger. I also used Crystal Effects on the black portion of the Skunk to add more depth.  The Get Well Tag was created using two scallop punches by offsetting them to pick up the colors from the background papers.  The stamp sentiment was created using a Just Rite stamp. Buttons, ribbon, and papers are from my stash.

I hope I inspired you in some way to run right over to PCW and request a free digi stamp so you can join in our very first Digi Stamp Challenge.

FranBaker_PPS 06_Card Front

Here it is Thursday again and you know what that means.  A brand new sketch!  I really had fun working with this sketch.  There were so many different ways you can interpret it.  Why don’t you give it a try and let me see how you interpret the sketch.

Pretty Patterns #6

Feel free to use the MTME sketch on any project you want, we encourage you to get creative! And of course you can combine challenges (Pretty Patterns #6 & Pretty Pallet #5). While participation with products from My Time Made Easy ™ LLC is appreciated, it is not required to participate. You can use products from ANY company. Sketch Keyword will be MTMEPPS06.

My card was made using Colorbok Papers called Bright Florals. The digital image is from MTME and is called MY LITTLE FRIEND. You can see the entire kit here. The image was colored using Prisma colored pencils except for the skin portion which was colored by Copic markers. And she was so easy to color! I also added Diamond Glaze to her rain slicker & boots. And all the flowers plus the scallop border were created using punches by EK Success.

Here are a couple more pictures of my card showing you a close-up of the MTME Digital Image and the inside of the card.  If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Now let’s see what I did using this week’s sketch as my guide.

The past couple of days have been real gloomy and rainy and I needed something to cheer me up and to bring lots of color in my world.  And I thought using a theme of cheerful colors I went with a Get Well Card that will certainly bring a smile to its recipient.

(You can click on all the images to get a larger view.)

Get Well Soon Card_MTME Sketch04_Fran

Supplies: Additional paper by DCWV (Café Mediterranean), Scallop punch by EK Success, Scallop Borders punch by Martha Stewart, Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, Sentiment is computer generated, Stickles (Lime Green) by Ranger, & ribbon from personal supply.

As you can see I have lots of different elements on my card that made me feel so cheerful.  Notice the pretty butterfly?  I used one of the butterflies from All A Flutter Digital Stamp which has 25 images in the package.  And then I colored the butterfly using a beautiful array of digital papers from Citrus Peel. Oh the colors in this package are truly awesome & very cheerful!  Here is a close-up of the butterfly wearing two of the cheerful papers.

AllThatFlutters_Butterfly for MTMESketchCard04_Fran

I wanted the sentiment and butterfly to be the focal point of my card.  So I made a wired spring and attached it to the scallop circle.  Here is a closer view.

GetWellCard_SpringPopOut

I wish you could see the card in person with the beautiful butterfly perched so gracefully and the sentiment springing in to action.

I hope this will get you sketchy too!
