Gold and Ivory Christmas Card

I was looking through my Card Maker magazine and fell in love with a card that looked so easy to do.  Once I read all the info about the supplies the creator used to make her card I said I don’t have any of those things in my supplies.  So I improvised.  The creator used Gold Metallic Ivory paper.  I had none of that but I did have ivory card stock so I got my brand new Tim Holtz Distress Stain Tarnished Brass and painted the card stock with it.  And the gold paper was embossed with snowflakes and I said I don’t have the exact one she used but I do have a Cuttlebug embossing folder with snowflakes.  So that was good.  And then she use a pretty poinsettia stamp and I did not have that either but I had a pretty holly stamp.  Stamped the holly using Versa Mark and sprinkled with embossing powder I had (WOW! Metallic Gold Rich) and put the heat gun to it.  And then punched a scallop border just slightly different from the one in the magazine.  I am very pleased with the way it turned out and it was so easy to do.  So it really is neat to have items in your stash where you can improvise and still get the look that is similar.  Here is a photo of my version.

I used two different papers:  Neenah for the card base. And Recollections gold shimmer for the embossed paper.  The scallop border is by Fiskars (old version).  Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder.  The holly stamp was bought last year from Michael’s.
