Golf is a day spent in a round of strenuous idleness. ~William Wordsworth

McMahon Five Designs

I know very little about playing golf.  But I do know what a hole-in-one is when a golfer “aces” it.  So why did I pick the golfing image to be the star of my card?  Well we know Father’s Day is coming up. Birthdays just around the corner.  And do I have any masculine cards made for the men in my life?  No I do not.  So today I bring you my day spent in strenuous idleness and present my hole-in-one Card.  And I love Vintage images.  More about the Golfer Image and my Card is below the photos.

I colored this image using two methods: I used Paint Shop Pro to color the clothes because I wanted to get a look of texture. I was aiming for a tweedy look and I got pretty close to it. The golf bag, golf clubs and shading on the clothes were colored with Prisma Colored pencils.  The skin was colored with Lyra Skin Tone pencils.  I did a little research and back in the Victorian era the clubs were made of wood so that is why I colored them brown.  And I also colored the bag in two shades of brown for a nice leather look.

The solid color paper on the Front and inside of the card was made using Paint Shop Pro.  I selected the tan color from the argyle print paper.  I filled the color into a 6” x 6” square and printed it out so I could cut them to the size I needed.

*NEW* Argyles & Plaids DP

PROMO Argyles n Plaids

These papers are so awesome and the colors just perfect  for making masculine cards.  The colors print out perfectly.  If you do not have a lot of masculine papers you just need to add these to your stash.

Additional Details:  Neenah Paper used for the image and printed argyle & tan prints.  Used two different Oval Nestabilities (Classic Ovals Large & Mega Ovals Large) for the front and inside of the card.  Decorative Tape Set by My Mind’s Eye (Blue) for the front and inside of card.  Glossy Essentials to hold it all together (love it).  Buttons given to me by my hubby (blue and brown).  Brown & white Twine to hold and embellish the buttons.  Blue thread for the zigzag embellishment on the front of the card done with the Sew Mini by Janome. The Distrezz-it-All tool to distress the papers.  The small Event Record card is from my Vintage stash and I just wrote on it.  And last but not least I used Vintage Photo Distress ink pad to distress the card and embellishments.

I would love if you visited the McMahon Five Designs Blog to see more awesome projects created by the Design Team.  So much inspiration that will tweak your creative side.
