Surprise Birthday Card

A friend will be celebrating her 60th Birthday and her family is giving her a surprise Birthday Party.  I decided to make her a card.  I went with a vintage theme because I love that look.  My only regret about the card is the flower on it.  I wish I would have made it smaller.  Let me know what you think.

Little bit about the card.  The flower was made using a 3” scallop punch and book pages for the paper.  Lots of distress ink and two kinds of glitter.  The background papers are from a book and Christmas stack and inked using Distress inks (walnut stain, crushed olive & fired brick). The swirls were made using a Sizzix die. Ribbon is a muted gold.  The charm is from Michael’s. The sentiment reads “birthday wishes” to match the font on the book paper font.  Very, very pretty in person. My camera did not catch its richness.  Oh one more thing I added a scent to the flower called Christmas (my favorite from Scent My Cards) and can be purchased here: StampingScrapping

Thank you for visiting!  Hugs, Fran

  6. Beautiful card!! I love seeing people use pages from books as background paper but I've never felt comfortable doing it myself... I feel like the words on the book page have to go with the theme of the card and I wouldn't know where to begin with matching that up! LOL!! Any suggestions????
